Overview
Darbouazza.com is a local discovery and community platform for Dar Bouazza, Tamaris, Jack Beach and the surrounding coast near Casablanca. It connects residents, visitors, businesses and service providers in one place: where to go, what to do, who to call, and what the sea is doing today.
It started as a local directory and grew into a broader platform combining business discovery, community listings, activities, an AI concierge and weather forecasts, all built on structured local data.
The problem
Local information in the area is scattered across social media groups, outdated listings and word of mouth. Traditional directories show a name and a phone number, but they don't answer the questions people actually have: what's open, what's worth doing, which service to trust, and whether the waves are good this afternoon.
What the platform does
- Business discovery: structured listings for local businesses, places and service providers.
- Community marketplace: listings published by local residents and businesses.
- Activities and reservations: discover local activities and book them.
- Business management: business owners manage their own presence on the platform.
- Swl Bouazza, the AI concierge: a conversational assistant ("ask Bouazza" in Darija), powered by the DeepSeek API, that helps users find places, services and activities.
- Weather and surf forecasts: local conditions for the coast, including surf forecasts for spots like Jack Beach.
SEO as a core feature
A local platform lives or dies by search. SEO is built into the architecture rather than added afterwards:
- Dynamic SEO: titles, descriptions and canonicals generated from structured local data for every page.
- Structured data: schema.org markup so search engines understand businesses, places and listings.
- Automated redirects: URLs that change are redirected automatically, so no ranking is lost.
- Analytics attribution: tracking which channels and pages bring users and business leads.
Infrastructure
Media is stored on AWS S3 and delivered through CloudFront, with Cloudflare in front of the platform for caching and security. Images load fast for visitors on mobile connections, and the application servers handle only application traffic.
Architecture
The backend is a modular Laravel 13 application on PHP 8.4 and MySQL. Business logic lives in reusable services, slow work such as AI requests and data processing runs in background jobs, and the platform is covered by automated Pest tests.
My role
I designed and built the platform end to end: product concept, Laravel architecture, the marketplace, reservation and business-management features, the DeepSeek AI integration, the SEO system, and the AWS and Cloudflare infrastructure.
